# Token Group

> Curated or algorithmic collections of tokens grouped by narrative themes, industry sectors, or performance tiers.

The **Token Group** Object covers curated or algorithmic collections of tokens grouped by shared characteristics — narrative themes (AI, RWA, meme), industry sectors (DeFi, gaming, infrastructure), or performance tiers (top 100, blue chips).

## What a Token Group represents

A Token Group Object is a named collection of tokens that share a thematic or structural characteristic. Unlike an Index, a Token Group does not necessarily have weighting, methodology, or rebalancing — it is a grouping for analytical convenience.

## Token Group vs Index

Both Token Groups and Indices organize tokens into collections, but they serve different purposes:

* **Token Group** — a thematic or sector grouping. Used to slice the market by narrative ("how are AI tokens performing?").
* **Index** — a benchmark with a methodology and weighting. Used to track performance as a single number.

## Commands

Token Group Commands provide group-level analytics — aggregated market cap, volume, and performance — and enable cross-group comparison.
