# Billing & Plans

> What you're paying for, how seats and plans work, and what happens when a payment fails or you cancel.

A short guide to what you're paying for and how it works.

## What you're paying for

Every workspace has one subscription: one plan, one bill, one payment method. If you belong to several workspaces, each is billed on its own.

Peak is billed **per seat**, not per person. You buy a number of seats and invite people to fill them. A seat is billed whether or not someone is in it — which also means you can add someone to an empty seat at any time without a new charge.

The **Owner** handles the plan, the seats and the card. **Admins** invite and remove people. **Members** just use Peak.

## Plans

| Plan | Best for | Billing | How to get it |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Trial** | One person trying Peak | Once, for one month | Self-serve |
| **Startup** | Teams raising a round | Monthly, up to 12 months | Contact sales |
| **Full Membership** | Investors and funds | Quarterly or annually, paid up front | Self-serve |
| **Institutional** | Custom requirements | Custom | Contact sales |

**Trial** is one seat for one month at a flat fee. It doesn't renew, and each account can use it once.

**Full Membership** is the standard plan — everything included, priced per seat, and annual billing is discounted.

**Startup** and **Institutional** are arranged with sales.

To move up, use **Upgrade plan** in **Settings → Plans & Billing**. Institutional is always through sales.

## Seats

Your seat usage shows in **Settings → Plans & Billing** as **occupied / paid**. `15 / 20` means 15 seats are in use and 20 are paid for, leaving 5 to fill. A pending invite holds a seat until it's accepted or expires after 7 days.

**Adding seats.** The Owner can add seats any time. They're charged immediately, pro-rated for whatever's left of the period, then billed in full from the next renewal.

**Removing seats.** Seats can't be removed partway through a period — they're paid for and yours until it ends. What you can change is how many renew, using the **Renewal plan** setting:

| Setting | Seats renewed |
| - | - |
| All my seats (default) | Every paid seat, including empty ones |
| Only seats in use | Only the seats occupied when the renewal runs |

This never removes anyone and never affects the current period. It's locked for the 7 days before a renewal.

## Billing

| Event | When you're charged |
| - | - |
| Trial | At purchase |
| Paid plan | At purchase, for the whole period |
| Added seats | At purchase, pro-rated |
| Renewal | End of period, automatically |

Prices exclude tax; tax is calculated from your billing country and shown before you confirm. Every charge produces an invoice and a receipt email, and invoices can be downloaded any time from **Settings → Plans & Billing**.

The card and billing details live in **Settings → Payment Method**, and only the Owner can change them. Bank transfer and invoice payment are available through sales.

## If a payment fails

| When | What happens |
| - | - |
| Days 1–7 | Full access. The Owner and Admins get a daily email to update the card. |
| Day 8 | The workspace is locked. |
| Any time | Paying the outstanding invoice restores it immediately. |
| 12 months | The workspace and its data are permanently deleted, with a warning 7 days before. |

While it's locked, the Owner sees the amount and a **Pay** button. Everyone else sees a notice with the Owner's name to contact. Nobody loses their membership.

## Cancelling

The Owner can cancel from **Plans & Billing**. You keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for, there's no refund for the unused part, and you can undo it any time before then. If a renewal payment is outstanding, settle it first — cancelling isn't available until then.

**When the period ends**, the subscription is over and the workspace is locked. Nothing is owed, so there's no invoice to pay:

* Everyone except the Owner loses access. The seats ended with the subscription.
* Nothing is deleted. The workspace and everyone's data are kept for 12 months.
* The Owner keeps the workspace and is the only person in it.

**To restore it**, the Owner selects **Choose a plan**, picks a plan and a seat count, and pays. The workspace unlocks immediately with all data intact, and the team can be invited back — invite people to the same account they used before and their work returns exactly as they left it.

A restored workspace is a fresh purchase at full price, with a seat count of your choosing. The Trial isn't available again if your account has already used it.

After 12 months locked, the workspace and everything in it are permanently deleted.

## AI credits, in one paragraph

Each seat includes a fixed monthly allowance of AI credits, set by your plan and shown in **Settings → Usage**. It's the most one person can use in a month, it resets on the 1st, and unused credits don't carry over. Credits can't be bought separately — the way to get more is to add seats.
